The Regional Historical Archive is an institution created in 1983 that concentrates 17 municipal collections (especially that of Valls), the district’s notarial collection, that of the Castells Printing House, documentation on the Veciana family, who held command of the Catalan Squadrons until 1836 (arrived by different routes) and the Mercadé collection, which contains the manuscript of the Llibre de les Grandeses de Tarragona by Ponç d’Icart, among other documents.
