The Molí del Fort is an association with the purpose of, firstly, giving more voice and visibility to the historical heritage of the Molí del Fort, a construction registered with the Architectural Heritage Service of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya as a “Cultural Asset of Local Interest”; and secondly, serving society in terms of conservation and dissemination of the natural heritage of the Prades Mountains.
These are the activities that are carried out and can be done with the family:
Visit the wildlife conservation center
We carry out guided tours for all those members of the public who want to come and learn about all the projects that are being carried out on site at the Molí del Fort. Visitors will enter a space that has been inhabited for almost 1000 years. They will be able to observe the different activities that were carried out on the estate and will get to know firsthand all the animals and plants that live in this place.
You can visit the following facilities: the flour mill, the paper mill, the dovecote for the white-tailed eagle, the crayfish breeding center, the century-old hydroelectric turbine and the animal shelter.
Go into the Brugent River Valley
A circular mountain route of about 5 km. We will leave from the town of Farena and go into the Mediterranean forest of the “Les Muntanyes de Prades” Protected Natural Area, where we will recognize the natural and cultural heritage of the environment. We will reach the Brugent River (River Nature Reserve of Catalonia) and follow its course along a path until we reach the Molí del Fort Wildlife Conservation Center. A place where we can learn about all the work that the organization does to protect the natural environment.
Bees and honey plants
We will begin the trip at the Flors del Brugent workshop, where the local beekeeper will explain the honey extraction process and the importance of bees for biodiversity. Afterwards, we will take a short naturalistic route, in which we will go into the Prades mountains and we will recognize the different plants and flowers that bees need to produce honey.
