The Celler de l’Apotecari has years of experience in the world of wine, from the wines that were used to make master formulas in the 18th century to those that you can enjoy right now.
In the past, the apothecary was dedicated to making medicinal preparations and many of the formulas were based on wine. In the family we keep manuscripts with the original formulas of medicines and liqueurs, as well as barrels in the house cellar with wines aged for decades.
Currently, at the Celler de l’Apotecari we make wine in the traditional way but applying modern techniques in order to be able to control the entire process. We like that you drink our wines with the confidence that we have consciously made them. We seek to excite your senses in order to transmit the essence of our vineyards.
Our agriculture follows ecological criteria, without the use of insecticides or herbicides. We are committed to biodiversity and the balance of nature. With this objective, we plant vegetable covers in the vineyards to improve the structure of the soil and provide shelter for beneficial insects for the crop. Healthy, vibrant vineyards produce unique wines like ours. All the wines are made with varieties that have traditionally been grown in the area: Macabeu, Xarel lo, Parellada, Malvasia de Sitges and Tempranillo. With this, we believe that we can achieve a more authentic and representative wine of our territory.
In the cellar, we let the wine follow its path, without intervening excessively, so as not to modify its personality. Each year has its own peculiarities that make it different from the previous ones. As a bottle stopper, we use biopolymers from sugar cane, with zero carbon emissions and which allow us to control the oxygenation of the wine.
