Montferri is a town with a great winemaking tradition; you only have to see the vineyards in the surrounding fields. In the old centre, near Sant Bartomeu parish church (BCIL), some houses retain their Gothic arches, such as Cal Vidal on Major Street and Forn del Blai, a former bakery and now a winery, in Major Square. Rocamora Castle (BCIN) is a must-see. The building was built to defend the border area of the Gaià river from attacks by the Saracens. It is believed to be from 1010 and may even be of Arab origin.
The Montserrat Sanctuary (BCIN) is one of the most representative works in the Alt Camp region. Modernist in style, it was a commission of the Tarragona architect, Josep Maria Jujol, a disciple and collaborator of Antoni Gaudí. The building has the shape of a boat oriented to Montserrat and is full of Jujolian details to be discovered following the outline and originality that characterised the architect Jujol.
At the top of the Tossa Grossa ridge, to the south of the town and at 376 meters above sea level, we find the Montferri Tower or Torre del Moro (BCIL).
