It contains one of the best collections of Catalan painting in Catalonia from the end of the 19th century to the present day. Its collection consists of a thousand pieces including paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs.

Chronologically, it starts with traditional realism, continuing with the Olot School and modernism, impressionist-influenced landscapes, the Noucentists and the first avant-gardes, post-war figurative painters and renovating artists, reaching up to the creators of today.
