Alt Camp is also about farming, cooperativism and love towards the land, a rural region full blooded!

For years, agriculture has been the main source of income in the region, with vineyards being one of the most widespread crops. However, the life of the winegrowers was not always easy nor was the harvest always sufficient, especially after the phylloxera plague that devastated the vineyards at the end of the 19th century. This led the inhabitants of Nulles to decide to pool resources and knowledge and create the Sant Isidre union. They were very clear about it: unity is strength!

The next step was to build a winery… a winery of the people and for people. In 1917, construction began on the building. The design was commissioned from Cèsar Martinell, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí; a fact that indicated that the winery would be another example of the modernist legacy of the region. Martinell was very clear about this, he was looking for a functional building, but one that would also capture the essence of the rural environment, with an aesthetic that was consistent with Nulles and its fields. This reality can be seen, for example, in the use of lime and clay, materials typical of the area.

In 1920, the vats of a monument that was the result of a collective effort, like many other monuments in the region, were filled for the first time. The majesty of these buildings led Àngel Guimerà to describe them as “cathedrals of wine”!

The winery is still operational today, under the name of Adernats, working mainly with the white varieties native to the area: Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Moscatel. In addition, a series of visits, tastings and wine tourism experiences are offered that will make you open up to the region through the palate. Without a doubt, an essential!
