A paper mill recently refurbished by the local government is the surprise awaiting in La Riba, in Alt Camp. After walking up the stairs that begin in Plaça Major, we find a building that has a little secret inside: it seems just another house in the village, but the poster on the door suggests this is the Interpretation Centre “The paths of water and paper”.
Visitors are transported to a time where La Riba was one of the most important paper making centres in Catalonia, just behind the comarca of Anoia. In fact, there are around 20 paper mills in the actual village. Moreover, you’ll discover the relation of “ribetans” (people from La Riba) with water from rivers Brugent and Francolí over the centuries. There’s also a place to consider the effects of climate change, water or recycling.
You can visit the Molí del Racó every second Saturday of the month, at 11h and 12h.
